"The 3 R’s: Roofs for shelter, Roots for culture, Readers for life."
Rebuilding communities through homes, healing, and hope.
We acquire and rehabilitate blighted, underutilized homes across Philadelphia, transforming them into licensed family childcare homes. These spaces become both community anchors and income-generating assets for aspiring early educators.
Focus on high-need zip codes with low literacy & high poverty rates
Renovations include child-safe upgrades, licensing-compliant facilities, and warm, home-like design
Residents have the opportunity to rent-to-own or purchase outright—creating a path to ownership and equity
From vacancy → vibrancy.Â
From shelter → solution.
We cultivate roots in two ways:
People:
Our comprehensive Early Childhood Provider Training Program supports underrepresented individuals—particularly women of color—on their path to becoming licensed childcare providers and small business owners.
Includes business skills, curriculum training, cultural pedagogy & licensing prep
Ongoing coaching, mentorship & wraparound services
Land:
We convert nearby vacant lots into sustainable food hubs and community gardens—supporting food justice, hands-on learning, and neighborhood health.
Garden-to-table programming in the classroom
Partner with local growers and food co-ops
Children help grow what they eat—instilling pride and healthy habits
Roots nourish families, neighborhoods, and futures.
Reading is our revolution.
Every child care site is infused with culturally affirming literacy, language development, and storytelling.
Daily read-alouds, phonemic awareness games & take-home books
Afrocentric curricula, identity-affirming texts & language-rich spaces
Library field trips, parent literacy workshops & book drives
We believe reading builds identity—and every child deserves to see themselves in the stories they grow up with.
